Letak tempat tersebut tepatnya berada di bagian pantai yang paling barat dan oleh masyarakat dikenal dengan sebutan “PONCOL”.
Biasanya para pengunjung melakukan mandi di tempat ini pada waktu fajar dan sore menjelang senja sekaligus menyaksikan keindahan sunset. Sampai sekarang lokasi ini masih tetap digunakan untuk mandi para penderita sakit kulit gatal-gatal & rematik dengan harapan sakitnya segera sembuh. Sementara itu diriwayatkan bahwa komplek Pantai Kartini dulu merupakan sebuah pulau yang banyak ditumbuhi rerimbunan tanaman kelor, sehingga pulau tersebut terkenal dengan sebutan Pulau KELOR. Saat itu pulau Kelor masih terpisah dengan daratan di Jepara. Oleh karena proses sedimentas, maka lama kelamaan antara pulau-pulau tersebut bersatu. Pulau Kelor dulu didiami oleh seorang Melayu bernama Encik Lanang atas jasanya dalam membantu Belanda dalam perang Bali.
Kartini Beach is one of tourism objects in Jepara Regency located 2.5 km west of Pendopo (an open typical Javanese hall) of Jepara Regency. Situated in Bulu Village of Jepara Subdistrict, this beach becomes one of the most-wanted-beaches to visit. Many facilities are available for tourists such as dock, turtle aquarium, home stays, etc.
The atmosphere around the beach is very fresh to give a good impression for tourists. The place is very suitable for family recreation or any other kinds of relaxing activities.
In this place, tourists can take a rest by sitting under the gazebos while taking the fresh air from the sea. There are many souvenir shops which sell handicrafts.Tourists usually buy it as a gift. This 3.5 ha area becomes a strategic area because it is a sea port to go to Karimunjawa National park and Panjang Island. Nowadays, tourists can go to Karimunjawa via Kartini Beach dock by riding a boat called KMP Siginjai (4-5 hours), or Kartini I (2.5-3 hours), or Ekspress Bahari (± 2 hours).

The bathing place is located in the west of the sea, local people call it as “PONCOL”. Dawn and dusk are perfect moments for many people for bathing because they can take a bath while enjoying the sunrise or sunset. Furthermore, until now, the place is still believed by locals to be a place to cure illness such as itchy and rheumatic by bathing there. It was told that Kartini Beach area was an island with many kelor plants in it. It made the island well known as Kelor Island. At that time, Kelor island is apart from Jepara land. Because of the sedimentation process overtimes, the island has become one.
In the Kelor island, there was a Malay named Encik Lanang. Encik lanang is famous for his contribution in defeating Dutch in Bali War.
In the area of Kartini Beach lies the tomb of Encik Lanang. Nowadays, people still come as pilgrim. Moreover, Kartini Beach is a historical place which cannot be apart from a private life of women’s Emancipation figure in Indonesia called RA Kartini. The beach is located not too far from her house (it turns into Pendopo of Jepara Regency now) where she grew up. For the family of RA Kartini, this house becomes a place to take a rest or to relax. In this beach also, RA Kartini spent her childhood times with her sisters/brothers. Finally, to memorize and give a tribute to the struggle of RA Kartini, the beach was named as Kartini Beach.
